Hi I am Phoebe-Jo, a multi-media textile artist based in Essex. Creating textile collections inspired by sociological issues of today and looking into historical movements which promote liberation. While also being inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
My goal is to create textile art pieces to inspire change in society and bring across the freedom of individuality. The main techniques I use is embellishment, print, crochet, and graphic design.
I have worked alongside some fashion and art companies during my BA at University of East London (UEL). Such as FCUK x UEL collaboration, interned at Hand&Lock embroidery company and had a commission with Art Acumen. Where I worked alongside UEL and Art Acumen to have a pavement moral painted at the DLR Cyprus entrance in London and leading into the Docklands University campus.
I have completed my Masters Degree (MA) in Textiles Design at Royal College of Art and Graduated in August 2023. I have experience as a freelance textiles restorer and artist.
In September 2024 I began a new journey. I have started my teacher training degree, teaching art and textiles design to 11-16 year olds in Essex.
Teaching the next generation is a passion of mine and I hope, one day, to combine my love of textile arts and teaching to run workshops for children in deprived communities. Who do not always get access to art programs. You can find more information about this under 'Phoebejotextiles.shop' section of my website.
I will have a stall on the 02nd of August from 10:30. This is a charity event held at St Fillans Care Home by Excelcare.
You can now by products straight from the shelf at Dedham Arts and Crafts Centre in Essex.
